After 3 friendlies we were feeling ready to take on Wallingford, especially as they play in our league so it was a great chance to check out the competition. Again we welcomed some new players from the 4's and those new to the club! We really focused on fluidity, with people playing in different positions, overlapping their runs and making a real effort to pass and run. This was no mean feat on such a hot day but work-rate was great and we were rewarded by our new player, Beth Farrant, scoring from a short corner. However, pushing high and attacking left us vulnerable and Wallingford caught us off guard on the break, as well as converting some shorts to win 3-1. We put in a good performance considering we had a mixed ability team and were trying new things but we look forward to welcoming players back and putting our strongest team out for our first league match against Newbury next week!
