We all knew the incredible run had to come to an end eventually, but this defeat was hard to take as we could so easily have won the game if we had managed to pursuade a goalkeeper to come with us. Felix the Cat's irriplaceble absence proved crucial in the second half when we contrived to give a 3-0 lead away despite a Man-of-the-Match performance of stand-in goalkeeper Stevie J. who dealt with everything that was thrown at him well into the 2nd half.
Gary 'The Ambassador' Mahon used all his newly acquired umpiring skills to explain to one of the match officials why certain decisions he was making were wrong. It was just a shame that his colourful language, often so useful in dealing with the natives, was slightly out of place on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Sussex.
And so in a frantic last 25 minutes the wheels came off quite spectacularly, a calamity that was bettered only minutes after the game by hat-trick scoring Marky Mark's fashion disaster that earned him the Louis Vuitton Award for Sartorial Elegance. Proof that for some of us Christmas cannot come quickly enough!
