Ladies 2's finish strong with their 3rd game in 4 days

15 September 2019, 13:45, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 2s 3 - 1 Marlow Ladies 1s

Hawks ladies 2's played Marlow in their last pre season game.  It was 3 matches in 4 days for the girls.  Marlow started quickly and caught the defence slightly flat, some nice stick skills saw them score in the first few minutes of the game. Hawks tightened up, and responded well and started to build patterns of play from the defence through the team to the front of the pitch.

Hawks first goal was a team effort; Helen played the ball out of the back down the line to Mary, who slotted it through to Victoria who passed it to Kathryn who pushed it hard and low to score.  Hawks started to control of the game.
The score at half time was 1-1, and Hawks felt like they were on top.  The momentum stayed with Hawks and their second goal came from a back hand rebound shot from Sienna.
Hawks began to win the ball more effectively in the press leading to opportunities in and around the D, some impressive 3D skills were on show winning a couple of shot corners.
Marlow looked dangerous on the break with some experienced players showed their wisdom, but the Hawks girls kept them at bay denying them any further goals.  The third and final goal came from a quick break from the back which ended in Helen McAll getting onto the end of a cross in front of the logged keeper and skilfully lifting it over and into the goal. Final score 3-1.

The ladies were delighted with a really positive preseason and look forward to the league starting next week.
