U14 Girls A 6 - 0 Surbiton U14 Girls
A home game on a foggy morning versus Surbiton saw the Under 14 Girls in the semi-finals for the Home Counties League. The girls were slightly intimidated by the Surbiton team and for the first five minutes were slow to respond to Surbiton’s attack; after the initial nerves had settled Hawks played some fantastic hockey; good accurate passing, excellent communication and faultless performances in defence and attack.
In the first half there were four goals for Hawks, all scored in quick succession.
The defence deserves a special mention as none of our usual defence girls were available so big thanks those who both did an amazing job in stepping up. The first half was a fantastic example of speedy, impressive hockey.
Surbiton rallied after a half time pep talk and came out fighting, the first ten minutes of the second half were dominated by Surbiton and a few shots on goal kept Amelia on her toes. Hawks were quick to defend with a few goals cleared on the line and although 4-0 down Surbiton kept going. Two more goals were scored in the second half by Hawks, one where the keeper took out Maisie and the advantage was played and Lili scored .
A wonderful 6-0 win over Surbiton and no goals conceded sees the girls go to the Home Counties final in Reading on Sunday the 28th of April, well done girls.
Dame of the game was chosen by Surbiton and went to Hari.
Thanks to Lisa & Robbie as always.
