Ladies' 7s beat Iver & Burnham
23 March 2019, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Top)
Ladies' 7s 1 - 0 Iver and Burnham Ladies 1s
The match started fairly slowly in an overcast but surprisingly warm day. The opposition had push back but we quickly regained possession with Lizzie and Kat driving the ball into the D and then a backhand strike from Lizzie got the first goal in the first few minutes of game. We continued strongly with many subs throughout the first half. Iona and the defence worked hard to keep the ball out of their end and Solveig, Yasmin, Pippa and the other mids did an excellent job of bringing the ball up to the forwards who had many more opportunities at goal. Gemma especially had some great shots but unfortunately their goalie was very talented, and we failed to get any more goals. Pam had a great game and made some fabulous runs therefore she was voted player of the match.
We voted for their player of the match. So, Sophia presented a bar of chocolate to Pat Bird who is still playing at the age of 79.
Many thanks to Jess for coming to coach us before leaving for her game and to Sophia P for managing the team.
