L6s secure 3-2 win in last away game of season against Wycombe 4s

23 March 2019, 10:30, Wycombe High School

Ladies' 6s 3 - 2 Wycombe Ladies 4s

We arrived at Wycombe and starting slow with Wycombe on us however as we gradually woke up, we played better with short passes and drives into the D. We had some great baseline runs and balls to the post but unfortunately no one was there to tap it in. However in the first half, Linda was great at getting our team short corners and we received a short corner which Buffy pushed the ball through the keeper’s legs for our 1st goal. Then, from another short corner Alessia received the ball and pushed the ball between the keeper’s leg and the ball bobbled into the goal. As half-time came near, Wycombe made some great counter attacks which we were slow to react therefore we had an overload of their players in our D which resulted in a goal for Wycombe.

At half time the score was 2-1 and we came into the 2nd half wanting to have a strong win, in the first 5 minutes from a ball hit through from our defence Lotty did a great run down the right side and hit to the P spot where Linda trapped the ball and scored our 3rd. We carried on to attack strongly however Wycombe had some good runs and therefore we had to get back. Coming to the end of the match, we were getting tired and Wycombe were awarded a short corner which resulted in a their 2nd goal from the baseline. The game finished with a 3-2 win to Hawks and finished whilst we were attacking. Great play from everyone and we worked really well as a team.

Thanks to Jan who came with us and was prepared to play if needed but managed our subbing and took some photos of the game too!
