It was, as my dad says, a Crowded House day on Saturday with four seasons in one day as we played Maidenhead in what turned out to be treacherous weather. So much so that after 20 minutes both umpires, wearing glasses, called a halt to proceedings as their sight was impaired by the horizontal hail/ rain shower and both teams sheltered by the hut (shame it wasn’t open as we could have made loads of money).
Before then, it was a slow start from Hawks L3s, however we started to pick up our pace and Frankie in particular caused the team from Bray (home of Michael Parkinson and Billy Connolly, apparently) quite a few problems. Potter looked impressive when playing at the back, someone remarked, only for Alice to respond that was where she usually plays (which we laughed at). As the weather cleared up, we started to get more opportunities on goal, although from the spectators point of view, there was lots of effort between the two 23s but far too little D action, but unfortunately we did not get an end result and eventually drew 0-0.
