U12 Girls unlucky draw against Oxford
10 March 2019, 10:45, Banbury Road North (Near)
U12 Girls 0 - 0 Oxford U12 Girls
Strong cross winds created some tricky playing conditions which the girls adapted to well, with both teams having to tighten up their play. Partly due to the conditions, it became a more tightly contested encounter than their previous 2-1 win against Oxford back in November.
There were chances at both ends, but some excellent play and perseverance from Hawks saw them emerge as the dominant team with a superb goal from Alina, only to be disallowed by the umpire citing the shot to have been a ‘dangerous’ lifted ball. As ever, the girls were fully respectful of the umpires decision, although the groundswell of opinion amongst the (unbiased?!) Hawks spectators felt the decision to be fairly harsh.
C’est la vie, a 0-0 draw sees the U12 girls continue their League unbeaten run for the season, so they left the pitch with heads held high!
