Ladies' 5s 4 - 0 Oxford Ladies 5s
The newly announced league champions Oxford Hawks Ladies 5s team were at home this weekend eager to maintain their winning streak and beat their local rivals Oxford. We started off applying the pressure but were disconnected from our passes and ended up making silly mistakes. Despite finding the opponents D on many occasions, we had trouble converting goals due to the high density of their defenders. Eventually we managed to break through however, and Sherene secured the first goal of the game.
After this our spirits perked up a bit and the ball pace improved. Oxford made a few breaks and were quick in attacking our goal when our attention slipped, however were unable to get their shots through excellent saves by goalkeeper Purdy. Hawks were disappointed to have a short corner goal disallowed, however another goal by Sherene bought Hawks into the second half 2-0 up and eager for more.
The second half saw Hawks get their heads in the game and attack the ball with more accuracy and pace. An amazing short corner saw Pip gain her first goal of the game and Hawks kept up the pressure to break through Oxfords defences once more and Sherene to score the final goal of her hattrick. Special mention to Sherene for man of the match and to Purdy for another clean sheet this season
