L6s keep their structure in 4-0 win over Harlow-High Wycombe
16 February 2019, 12:30, Banbury Road North (Top)
Ladies' 6s 4 - 0 Harlow-HIgh Wycombe Ladies 1s
Hawks knew that this match was going to be challenging. Harlow High Wycombe are a skilful and well drilled team so we knew we would have to be on top of our game. With this in mind Captain Phil gave us a motivational team talk before the start and so we had a plan of action.
The L6s all took this on board and every player gave a great performance throughout the whole match.
Hawks connected passes well, with improved communication and were rewarded with 4 goals - 2 for Alessia, 1 for Victoria and the last one for Abi (scoring on the final play of the game). However Harlow fought hard and their physicality and determination did not waiver. Numerous attacks from our opposition were fended of by the teamwork between Jan and Phil who successfully prevented their very skilful (and current top scorer for our league) centre forward from scoring.
Lotty in particular was on great form and made numerous strong leads up the wing with strong and accurate crosses into the D, often resulting in the awarding of a penalty corner. Becky had a good game and almost scored from her lifted shot on goal but their keeper was unfazed and batted it away - along with her goalie glove which sadly for her went way over the hedge outside of the pitch as the final whistle was blown!
MOM went to Lotty so we look forward to her home bakes at next weeks game.
Thanks to Clive and Evelyn for the photos and to Chris Hutton for umpiring the game.
