Ladies 6s shine against South Berks 4s with 5-1 home win.

23 February 2019, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 6s 5 - 1 South Berkshire Ladies 4s

The match started strong. The first goal came from a short corner where a misinject went to Lotty whose straight strike on the goal saw us up early on in the game. There were great runs from all the team which meant we were often in lots of space, though we sometimes needed to just look up and see the players in space. Our second goal came from a cracking strike from Lizzie into the D where Alessia was ready to quickly knock it into the goal. In the last few minutes of the first half a great run and block from Abi during a defence short meant we remained 2 goals up at half time.

At the start of the second half we started a little slower yet keeping true to form Rosie scored a lovely goal for us. Then South Berks took advantage of a break and overloaded our defence. Despite some great defending, especially from Jan, the overload was too much and S Berks scored their first goal of the match. This motivated us to pick up our game and not long after Emily V scored with a strong forehand strike. Our final goal came again from a lovely shot on goal by Rosie that Alessia made sure went over the line.

Lessons for next game: look up to see players in space and always get back to defend on a break!
