Ladies 3s come up short against rivals Oxford

12 January 2019, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Ladies' 3s 2 - 3 Oxford Ladies 2s

On an early morning for our first game back we were ready to face one of our biggest rivals Oxford. The game started with Hawks dominating the play with some unlucky shots and some incredible saves by the Oxford goalie. We were awarded a short corner where Victoria was unlucky as her shot bounced off the post. At half time it was 0-0 and we sat down to hear Tom’s wise words.

After half time Oxford were awarded with a short corner and managed to get the score to 1-0. And shortly afterwards they scored another making it 2-0. Our heads went down a bit, but we were quickly lifted when Becca hit a cracking ball at the goal, but it rebounded off the goalie straight to Emily who popped it into the goal. Victoria very shortly after slotted a sneaky ball through the goalie’s legs making the score 2-2. Oxford then had a lucky break managing to score again making it 3-2. Both teams were getting tense when 10 minutes were left. Unluckily Kirsty managed to get a green card sending her to the bench. As the 2 minutes went up the ball ‘cracked’ under the pressure. Literally. After a new ball was brought out we held our ground pushing right into Oxfords ‘D’, but we were unlucky not to score.
