The match started well with the forwards putting good pressure on Windsor's midfield from the first whistle. The umpiring was very reliant on playing advantage but was fair for both teams. Opportunities came and went for both sides to see a scoreless first half.
Unfortunately in spite of hard battling, several short corners for us and solid defence from Jan and Phil we saw ourselves down 0-2 from 2 good goals as the second half clock was ticking down. Nevertheless we came back strong in a dramatic end to the second half.
Amelia with more action than 2 weeks ago when she didn’t touch the ball courageously ran out to meet a fast break attack on our goal to be backed up by Emily W who actually stopped a sure goal on the line. Then with just 5 mins to go Lotty crossed the ball in to Abi who chipped it in and suddenly it was all to play for. Our determination was rewarded with a short corner just before the final whistle and Emily V scored an amazing equalising goal which saw us ridiculously jumping on each other as if we had won the World Cup!
Such is the game of hockey. Great team effort and man of the match was Emily Watson.
