Promising times against Higher League Oppo, Marlow 1s

12 January 2019, 11:00, St. Edward's School

Ladies' 2s 1 - 2 Marlow Ladies 1s

Hawks Ladies 2’s were eager to get the second half of the season underway having finished convincingly at the top of the before Christmas. They knew it was going to be a tough game as they faced Marlow 1s who despite only recently being promoted have had an excellent season thus far in the South League, which is the league above Hawks 2’s.

Marlow came out the blocks fast and were clearly a team with both experience and skillful youth on their side! That aside, Hawks are an equally skillful and cohesive team and didn’t let this deter them! Unfortunately, Marlow caught Hawks on the back foot 15 minutes into the first half and conceded a goal! This didn’t faze Hawks and it was shortly followed by a period of attacking play which culminated in winning a short corner. Abbie Brant’s initial shot was saved but it came back to her at the top of the D and she made a good decision to pass it to her wife to be who calmly slotted the ball home making it 1-1.

The second half remained much the same with it being tightly contested and a pleasure to be back on the pitch as a team building momentum for our first league match ! Ultimately the game ended 2.1 with Marlow on top after a short corner was awarded, which they managed to convert. Hawks are looking forward to working together to build on the successful first half of the season and hope to fulfill their goal of winning the league!!
