Ladies 6s secure 3-0 home win against Wychwood Badgers

19 January 2019, 12:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 6s 3 - 0 Wychwood Badgers

The ladies 6's have really gelled as a team which was very apparent in their performance against Wychwood Badgers. With much appreciated guidance and support from Jacs, we concentrated on simple hockey, trying to keep our shape and connect our passes. We dominated from the start with tireless efforts from our midfield players in particular .We were soon rewarded with our first goal from a lovely run from Abi who passed in to Linda at top D finishing with a successful strike on goal. With a greatly improved press the 6's intercepted numerous opposition hit outs and continued to dominate the play.

We continued into the 2nd half with great effort from all players. Much appreciated support from the midfield, coming back to help in defence. Tight marking, yet another improvement. All of which held off each attack from the opposition.

Just minutes into the second half we scored our 2nd goal. Lucia had a great run up the pitch where she passed in to Sophie who finished with a nice deflection into the corner. A further goal soon followed from a lovely clearance by Amelia in goal which was swiftly passed up to our attack. Lotty shot in from outside the D and a last second touch from Sophie sealed a goal. With less than 10 minutes to go Wychwood made a final attack and were awarded a succession on penalty corners ( approximately 6!) all of which were successfully defended. A much deserved 3-0 win for the team.

A great effort by all players throughout the match made the MOM vote difficult and there were votes for most of the players. Sophie was awarded MOM and Ffion was in 2nd position.

Thanks to Jacs for her guidance and support.

Thanks to Charlie Baggs and Pip Cantwell for umpiring.
