Ladies' 4s 2 - 2 Milton Keynes Ladies 2s

This Saturday the Ladies 4s played Milton Keynes Ladies 2s at home. Hawks started off really strong, with a great press, putting Milton Keynes under great pressure. Hawks had many attacks but unfortunately they were countered by Milton Keynes’ defence. That was until Tiggy made a great interception and  set off down the left wing. Tiggy then passed it Mimi on the right who sprinted further down the pitch. Mimi then did an excellent reverse pass to Rebecca, who was on the baseline of the D. Rebecca passed it into Gemma who was at the P spot and GOAL! Hawks deservedly went  1-0 up, after tirelessly pressing Milton Keynes.

Milton Keynes began to pressure our defence more and soon got a short corner. A strike from the top of the D was fantastically saved by Annabel, unfortunately Milton Keynes were quick to react to this save and scored a few seconds after.

Hawks continued to work hard and earned a series of short corners. All our hard work payed off when Caz scored from a well drilled routine.

Evelyn then had to make an amazing save from a well taken penalty flick and kept the score at 2-1.

We went into halftime 2-1 up and a positive team talk led by Becky and refuels by jelly babies, we were ready to go again.

Milton Keynes were also ready to go again and were evidently hungry for that equalising goal. Milton Keynes eventually got that goal from a strike from the top of the D but neither teams were giving up after that. For the last 10 minutes of the match Milton Keynes were applying lots of pressure to our defence and gained a few short corners. However, our defence held them off and handled the pressure brilliantly with help from the midfield. We had some great play in the final minutes through the middle and some great leads from the forward line, hungry for another goal that would put us into the lead. Unfortunately the final whistle blew and after a tough battle, with great performances from both teams, we finished 2-2.

Well played to everyone, especially Evelyn who made a great save from a penalty to flick and to Lara who won some excellent tackles to earn herself MOM!
