Ladies' 7s in wicked performance, winning over Wycombe
08 December 2018, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 7s 1 - 0 Wycombe Ladies 5s
The weather was cold but good for our match against Wycombe who were one place above us in the league. We knew this would be a tough game but we had a great team and it was lovely that Iona was getting her first game with Hawks Ladies in goal.
Wycombe had the push back and started strongly. We had the majority of possession and had some short corners. Wycombe's goalie did a good job and sadly we could not get on the end of the rebounds. However, all the hard work was rewarded when Ellen made a beautiful pass from the wing which was finished by Gemma. Half time was filled with a positive team talk trying to build on the play so far: more use of the right side and communication and commitment. Everyone started the second half fired up. Yasmin suffered a knock to her hand form a high ball and then a Wycombe player got a ball to the chin off her own stick. But concentration was not lost and although we did not manage to convert any of the short corners or score again we managed to keep calm and get the win!
There was many nominations for Player of the Match which showed how well everyone played: Pam got the most votes for her great performance as Inner.
A great performance that augers well for the second half of the season.
