On Saturday Oxford Hawks Ladies 5s travelled to Reading to face Phoenix and Ranelagh Ladies 2s in hopes of continuing their winning streak. The teams both struggled hard in the first half vying for ball possession and defending well in the attacking circle. On a few occasions, Hawks managed to break through Phoenix and Ranelagh’s defence to have some shots on goal but unfortunately were not successful. Pressure continued to mount as neither team could find the goal and Hawks became frustrated leading to many passes being given away. Both teams went into half time level and eager for a goal.
After a team talk, Hawks were more composed in the second half and by pulling the keeper out of the goal, Lilli managed to get around her to find the goal and score for Hawks. Phoenix and Ranelagh worked hard after this, breaking away a few times to put pressure on in our circle, however 2 excellent saves from Millie ensure Hawks stayed 1-0 up. As the final minutes counted down, Hawks, although exhausted, remained hungry for another goal and just before the final whistle blew Harri scored an excellent goal to bring Hawks 2-0 up.
