Hawks had their full strength squad out against lowly Slough on Saturday, who could only rustle up a bare ten and as a result the 6s had an easy afternoon, culminating in an 11-1 win. Although pretty much one way traffic, Hawks tried to use the match to hone their play in terms of maintaining a high ball speed and maintaining possession. We sometimes erred by wading through treacle down the middle, but at times moved the ball fluently down both flanks and Arthur and Finn on the wings both played well. Slough had a couple of talented youngsters but they couldn’t live with us on the day – I imagine it will be different in the away match – but the result took us into positive goal difference and up to 4th in the table. Special mentions for Mattie H with four well taken goals and he was among seven goal scorers. Having been at the receiving end of many thrashings by the then European Champions in the 1980s, it's always nice to beat a club that has boasted former greats such as Suti Khehar, Ian Taylor, Manjit Flora, Bal Saini and Kukhi Dhak.
