Men's 4s coolect first away points of the season beating Abingdon

03 November 2018, 12:00, Tilsley Park

Men's 4s 2 - 1 Abingdon Men's 1s

A workmanlike display against an unusually subdued Abingdon helped Hawks climb the table at Tilsley Park on Saturday.

It could have been many more than 2:1 to be honest and Hawks should have been out of sight by half time and certainly by the time Abingdon pulled one back with 5 minutes to go. We managed to avoid another “Windsor” but will have to be less wasteful in front of goal moving forward. Goals were scored by Will and Luke, the first being a surprise to all.

The captain did not get into a scrap with Trigger and also revealed that in 5 years he has never been voted MOM - his run continues as the award was shared by Matt, Robbie and Jamie (who had a really solid first game after being elevated from the 5’s).

In what could be a first the DOD was awarded to somebody who was not playing and who is a woman - Lisa Scragg (yes, really!). The details remain hazy, but in a show of family unity her husband (Robbie’s Dad) and Robbie both laid the blame at her feet as the shirts were dropped off at Hawks during the week and not brought to the game on Saturday. Lisa, probably does more than her fair share of shirt washing each year and the award was surely harsh. If you are reading this Lisa you have the right to reply in the next report.
