L6's take on second in the league Windsor

20 October 2018, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 6s 2 - 2 Windsor Ladies 2s

fash

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon at BRN for Ladies 6s with a squad of 15 to line up against a strong Windsor team.

Windsor started well and put Hawks under immediate pressure but Hawks responded and created some good chances.  Becky was unlucky to have a well aimed shot cleared off the line with the goalie beaten.   Scores remained level until Hawks conceded a short corner half way through the first half.  Windsor were well drilled at the set piece and their centre half struck well to score. Hawks responded quickly though and with three accurate passes from a 16 Sophie beat the goalie one on one to equalise.

One all going into the second half and Hawks were moving the ball well.  Unfortunately Windsor got another opportunity to rehearse their short corner drill and it was deja vue as Windsor’s centre half scored again in similar fashion.  But it wasn’t long before Hawks won a free hit just outside the D and took it quickly crossing from the goal line to find Sophie on the near post who finished well again.

Both teams had chances towards the end but defended in numbers. Purdy made an excellent overhead save and volley to clear one attack. The match finished in a draw.

Final score 2-2
League position 4th
