Ladies' 1's early goal leads to a 1-1 draw with Exe

Ladies' 1s 1 - 1 Exe Ladies 1s
Hawks ladies welcomed Exe to Banbury Road North for their first home league game of the season. Hawks had a superb start with a goal within the first minute. After several passes, Henri Gordon drove the ball down the left sideline delivering it to Jess Amps in the D. Amps then crossed the ball on her backhand to Becky Odlin who deflected perfectly past the Exe keeper. Throughout the first half Hawks contributed to apply pressure to Exe's defence, however it was the away side who equalised somewhat against the run of play on the half time whistle from a short corner to leave the score 1-1.
After the break Hawks continued to work hard and getting the ball through to the forwards, with Katie Lowe in fine form. However it wasn't all one way traffic as Exe won a number of penalty corners, and there was some superb defending from Gordon and Caro Harris both saving shots on the line. Exe had their chances, in particular when they had 4 corners in a row but they couldn’t get past the impenetrable home defence. Hawks pressed hard in the final quarter turning the ball over many times but unfortunately couldn’t convert the pressure into another goal leaving the final score 1-1.
