Hawks victors in the First Local Derby of the Season

08 September 2018, 12:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 2s 2 - 1 Oxford Ladies 1s

In a preseason friendly against local rivals Oxford, Hawks were fired up and ready to go!

In the first quarter, Hawks were immediately put under pressure but fought back with excellent play from the defence and midfield creating some great chances for the forwards. At the end of the first quarter there was no score.

In the second quarter Hawks were attacking more and played brilliant hockey as a team resulting in some short corners being awarded. After a few shots on target, but no goals, Tiny wee Claire popped up to get a tip in from the post to give Hawks their first goal.

Hawks started the second half positively at 1-0 up. However Oxford fought back, working hard in defence but with some great runs from the forwards and midfielders. Fi made it 2-0 to Hawks. Oxford came back stronger and got a quick break away run resulting in a one on one with our keeper, unfortunately getting them a goal. However during the rest of the match Hawks held Oxford off with strong team play. The final score being 2-1 to Hawks.

Man of the match went to April for her amazing efforts at the back.
