Oxford Hawks Ladies 2s hosted Oxford Uni 1s for a late night game on Thursday. The game started with a period of considerable pressure from Oxford Uni with Hawks defending well and looking composed.
To the end of the first quarter Hawks hit there stride and started to run some nice attacking plays into the oppositions half. In the second quarter Hawks played some lovely flowing play linking up across the pitch and exerting considerable pressure on the University side. Despite having the majority of possession Hawks were yet to capitalise with few shots on goal. Oxford Uni 1s showed their skills with several periods of dominance through which Hawks showed excellent marking skills. A constantly changing University press gave a great opportunity for work on the Hawks sides switching and defence to forward connections.
In the third quarter Hawks capitalised on their possession with goals from Emily and Harriet. After a shorter fourth quarter the game finished 4-0 with further goals from Tiny wee Claire and Gabs. Numerous other goal scoring opportunities were developed with Hawks winning large periods of possession in and around the D.
A great performance from the Hawks 2s as they work towards the start of the season in a few weeks time.
