Ladies' 7s 7 - 0 Oxford Ladies 7s
Ladies' 7s secured a very welcome second victory of the season, defeating Oxford 7s 7-0. The match was closer than the score suggest and the Hawks' goals came after sustained effort from the forwards who were working well with the midfield. They moved the ball swiftly from left to right and found spaces in the D to run into. Goals came steadily in the first half which ended 4-0.
The second half save a little more pressure Oxford the there was fine defending to keep their forwards at bay. Three more goals resulted in a well-deserved 7-0 win. Great umpiring kept the game moving.
Man of the match was shared between Lucia at left half and Emily at right back. Both had excellent games. Lucia was always wanting the ball, and being in the right place usually got it. She was a force to be reckoned with. Emily in her quiet way was solid at the back and confident enough in her stick skills to win the ball and then keep if before passing it neatly to the mid line. Sadly, she is still 12 so will not be able to play leagues until her birthday in October.
