Oxford Hawks travelled up to Premier League side University of Birmingham to play a triangular tournament against their hosts and Conference North side Ben Rhydding. In their first game against Birmingham Hawks found themselves under considerable pressure from the start but they settled well into the game and opened the scoring just before half time with a well taken short corner goal from Becky Odlin.
After half time, the game opened up and Hawks enjoyed the lions share of possession, leaving goalkeeper Jess Hughes a spectator for most of the half. Hawks doubled their lead after good work from Briony Hearn led to Katie Lowe finishing well from close range. The away side struck a third from a well worked Catherine Reaney corner goal, and moments from the end Lowe added another.
