A last minute goal robs Hawks of points after a well fought match

10 February 2018, 12:30

Ladies' 3s 0 - 1 Slough Ladies 2s

Hawks assembled in the away changing rooms all feeling a bit cold and peckish whilst sharing our complaints about the struggles of shrinking white socks. We put our thoughts behind us and went out into the rain ready for the battle against the 2nd in the league, Slough.
Slough had first pushback but Hawks put the pressure on from the off, forcing the opposition to make rushed passes resulting in interceptions or going off the sideline. It took us a while to adjust to the bouncy pitch but we finally got into the swing of things and started to create some great play. Nicky, Megan, Laura and Victoria retained possession well at the back, looking for a pass to play into the inners who made some great leads. The forwards pressed the ball well, managing the keep the ball mainly in their half. Hawks took their chances at goal but unfortunately struggled to convert.
In the second half the rain continued and Hawks were even more determined to seal the win. Lucy had amazing composure on the ball, finding Lizzie in the middle who skilled her way through the Slough defence linking well with the inners. A short corner was won by Alex but unfortunately Hawks couldn’t find the back of the goal. After a very strong attacking play with the forwards stretching the pitch and complimenting each others leads, Slough quickly turned over the ball and scored in the last 2 minutes. After having the majority of the possession Hawks came out of the match feeling frustrated but looking forward to next weeks match in hope for a win!
