According to Mr Venables (aka Barney Dribbler for some shocking misses earlier on this season…), this was a rather “hollow” victory because the forwards should have scored more goals…!
This was a slightly confusing take on the game, as this time the forward line actually managed to slot 8 goals past the Oxford defence….
However, whichever way one looks at it, it was a pleasing scoreline after a cold wet game.
The score was slightly misleading as Theo made some excellent saves in the first half to keep us at 3-0 at half time. Shambles had his shooting boots on, and led the line extremely well….
Despite turning up in shocking mud splattered kit, the afore mentioned Barney had a very good game in central midfield (only dribbling up his bottom a few times), and the defence was well organised at the back.
Steve Elliott and Charles Darby tried to play catch up with Shambles by both scoring two goals, but Shambles (aka Mark Shirley) was voted MoM for his surprisingly well hit goals – with Theo Sanders a close second for his excellent keeping.
Thanks to Geoff and Ian for umpiring.
