Ladies' 5s 2 - 1 Wycombe Ladies 3s
Despite the cold and damp Hawks 5s warmed up well and started strongly and with good passes dominated the opening plays. It was Wycombe however who scored first when a short corner strike deflected off a defenders stick and looped high over the keeper and just under the bar into the goal. An unusual goal but Hawks responded well and it wasn‘t long before they equalised. A good passing move from the midfield saw Sherene in possession in the circle . She calmly passed to Mimi who scored from a great position in front of goal. Still dominating the play there were some good moves down the right with Jacs, Vicky and Jane linking well. But it was Sherene who made it 2-1 with a strong strike from the top of the D, and put Hawks deservedly ahead at half time.
Hawks set out in the second half to light up the glimmers of passing moves that had been there in the fIrst half. Susan continued to have a strong game in defence making timely tackles and interceptions, but despite committed effort from everyone in the team it was not converted into an improvement in the quality of play or an improved scoreline. The team should be commended for their effort throughout the game. We were happy to end the game with a win and three points.
Particular thanks to Mel Page for managing the subs for us .
