Potter creates magic to lead L4s to a deserved win

27 January 2018, 14:45

Ladies' 4s 2 - 1 Wallingford Ladies 2s

Wallingford, with the support of the home crowd started the sharpest. A fierce attack from their athletic right half put Hawks on the back foot, resulting in a short-corner early doors.  A superb strike was deservedly put away.  Hawks responded by putting continuous pressure on Wallingford's defence and despite their young keepers efforts, she couldn’t stop Alice Potter calmly slot away the rebounding ball. The game was end to end with chances falling to both teams. Hawks defence kept calm and with Linda’s wise words and nimble footwork we went into halftime a goal a piece.

With a team talk of working together and raising our intensity we came out of the blocks determined to get a win.  The team started to communicate and link passes with some excellent play from Tiggy and Alice down the left, Alice reacted the quickest in the D and again picked her corner and slotted the ball into the back of the goal.

Wallingford responded and mounted sustained pressure, Hawks defence showed their determination not to let the lead slip. Although some of this determination was deemed as a little overzealous resulting with a couple of our senior players having a forced rest on the sidelines....... despite this the team showed their passion to keep Wallingford out.

A great result for the Ladies' 4s and a very enjoyable game to take part in.
