Men's 4s run out 4-3 winners against Windsor 1s

Men's 4s 4 - 3 Windsor Men's 1s

A great start to the second half of the season running out 4-3 winners against Windsor, who were level on points with us. Jack Burke opened the scoring and snuck in for a lovely deflection off a Will Senior backhand and we ended the first half 2-0 up. Jacob Adams scored the second, a fine individual effort on the backhand. Welcome back to the club Jacob! Could have been 3, as another deflection hit one of their defenders on the line (seemed like the defenders thigh but was deemed to strike arm and then hand - no stroke?). It seemed like we controlled the 2nd half but with some slack defending we managed to concede 3 goals and although we converted another 2 goals (Sam and Chris) we probably should have won by more in the end, spurning a couple of 2/3 on 1s with the keeper.

Chris Maidlow had an up and down day, turning up with no astros and having to borrow a pair of trainers. Personally I felt he should have played in the brown shoes he turned up in as they went well with his socks. He did however score the goal that took us to 4-2, beating three players and slipping it over the keeper - easily the best goal he has scored and takes him level with Luke on the scoring front. In his defence Luke was playing with a stick 2 inches shorter than normal - he has only had 4 weeks to get a new one!! The big competition was for DOD with Chris and Luke vying with Iain who forgot his trousers. Always going to be Chris. MOM went to Will Senior who capped of a great weekend with a fine display in midfield. Honourable mentions were made to Jacob.

Bring on next week!
