Misery at Marlow for the Ladies 2s

02 December 2017, 11:45

Ladies' 2s 1 - 2 Marlow Ladies 1s

After a missed week of hockey due to the poor weather, the Ladies 2s were looking forward to playing again but faced a top of the league clash against Marlow 1s. Even with a squad of 15, it was going to be a tough game. Despite some strong attacking work, and some dogged defending, Marlow managed to go 2-0 up by halftime, with both goals coming from crosses into the D and a deflection.

After a positive team talk by Rory at half time, the team went out, ready to fight back and the second half saw the 2s step up their game. Kara did some excellent work in the centre, earning her a well-deserved Man of the Match, however only one goal was forthcoming. Jess MW made a great pass into the D allowing Kathryn to run pass the keeper with help from Emily Wilkins enabling Hawks to get one goal back.

Unfortunately, this was not enough to draw, and the 2s lost 2-1. This was disappointing with it being the second loss of the season but the second half showed considerable improvement and the team hope to get back to our winning ways against Oxford next week.
