Jelly Baby fuel gives L4s the boost over Thame 1s
02 December 2017, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 4s 2 - 0 Thame Ladies 1s
The L4s started the home game against Thames with a strategic play from Captain Becky. The season so far has seen strong second half performances, so this momentum was moved up to the starting whistle with "half time gummy bears" served at the get go. This proved very effective with the Hawks coming out strong.
Thames had a few early opportunities with a shot coming off the post and a ball floating across an open goal. Cool heads in defence saved the day and kept it nil all.
An early short corner was converted for Hawks with a cracker hit from Catherine at the top of circle, deflecting off a defender's stick into the top of the net. Bolstered by the goal, Hawks continued their excellent passing, dominating possession. Diz consolidated her well earned best on ground performance with the second Hawks goal coming from some great team field play.
Going into half time 2-0 up, we got some great tips from Andy who we were lucky enough to have coaching.
Thames came out firing in the second half and were hungry for a goal. Tiggy didn't let the fact her mum was on the opposition slow her down, fighting hard for household bragging rights.
Some great saves from Evelyn and excellent defensive work maintained the clean sheet with no goals in the second half. The L4s walked away with a 2-0 win and an additional reason to celebrate at the Christmas party.
