Men's 1s 6 - 2 London Wayfarers Men's 1s
The M1's continued their encouraging form on Saturday with a commanding 6-2 victory over London Wayfarers to remain top of South Prem One. Hawks took early control of the game in the seventh minute when Tom Godding finished off an excellent move involving some neat interplay. Matt Wood added a second four minutes later and Hawks never really looked back from there. Andy Watts made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time with a trade mark quality finish. The 3-0 half time score line was a fair reflection of Hawks dominance in the first half.
Wayfarers struck back early in the second half with a penalty corner conversion, only for Jack Biggs to follow suit three minutes later. Three further goals followed in the space of three minutes, one for the visitors and two for the home side from Will Heywood and a second for Matt Wood to leave the result in no doubt. A seventh 'goal' was deemed not to have crossed the line late in the game which avoided the need for Sobey and Watts to debate who should be credited with the finish.
