Ladies 2s take on West Hampstead 1s

11 November 2017, 12:30, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 2s 3 - 0 West Hampstead Ladies 1s

Oxford Hawks Ladies 2s welcomed West Hampstead 1s to BRN on Saturday 11th November.

The 2s started well and showed West Hampstead their intentions early on. The first goal came about after some silky skills and speedy ways from Hayley Jane Sawyer who then played the ball across the D where Em Wilkins was waiting to slot the ball into the goal.

The 2s were feeling more confident after scoring the 1st goal and started putting more pressure on the West Hampstead defence. This resulted in goal number 2 when hawks were awarded a penalty corner. Tiny wee claire deflected the first shot but the GK made a great first save. However Helen Nicholson had obvs been paying attention in training and boxed out the defender, pouncing on the rebound with the reactions of a tiger. 2-0 to Hawks.

Man of the match April Bedford started the 3rd goal with a great pass from just outside the Hawks D to Kara Kerr who then played the ball to Jessica Madden-Waite who had overlapped with her speedy ways. Jess calmly drove into the opposition D where tiny wee Claire was waiting to deflect the ball past the GK.

3-0 up at half time, the ladies 2s felt confident going into the 2nd half but knew they would have to play continue playing well to ensure West Hampstead weren't able to get back into the game.

Although Hawks were unable to score any further goals, it was a very consistent 2nd half with lots of attacking opportunities and great defending all over the pitch.

The 2s look forward to a wee trip to London to play Hampstead and Westminster 3s next weekend.
