Mens 7's win valuable 3 points in Goal fest

04 November 2017, 14:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Men's 7s 6 - 2 Wallingford Men's 5s

After the first 10 minutes it seemd like the 7's had learnt how to pass the ball, and the only problem was only one (Rich Tyser) goal had been scored.....

With the younger Elliott making surging runs through the Wallingford backs, it should have been a walk in the park, but the excitement got to the 7's and everyone but the two Centre backs decided that they should get a piece of the action.......the Green Hoops came back and attacked quickly and scored, and could have had another but for an excellent save by Will Hackett,

Elliott senior then managed to stretch his supple (?) body to toe poke a great ball through to make it 2-1 at half time.

Two goals from Shambles, another by Tyser and a cheeky flick by man of match (and green carded) Chris Royer saw the 7's home in what would have been style except for a return to headless land (when skipper Spittles was having a the field) and Wallingford scored a second goal with him muttering it was like organising a kindergarden.....

The real highlight of the game was seeing the bronzed Venables (recently back from his body boarding trip) missing a complete sitter. it was only afterwards that the re-named Barney V confessed thet the ball had been too close to his legs....this was truly an excellent reason, one that must surely have been taught by the last holder of the Barney award, Mr Elliott who it seems, along with KP Shambles, is challenging for the new Kane award......

Many thanks to Rory and Hugh for umpiring.
