Hawks U16 Boys were matched against Marlow in the HA Cup competition and knew it would be a tough challenge to get past them and proceed in the competition.
From the start Marlow showed confidence on the ball and with pace and intensity forced Hawks onto the back foot. However early chances fell to Hawks and they could easily have taken the lead. However a flowing move engineered by the strong 3 man defence of the opponents led to a well taken first goal.
Hawks continued to hassle and press but were soon 3-0 down after 2 short corners were slotted home. The first with a drag flick into the roof and the second with a low hard drive.
It would need a dominant performance in the second half but Marlow were not to be denied. Four further goals made the score-line a little harsh but you cannot deny the effort and hard work put in by the Hawks players.
Marlow were simply the better team on the day and showed how movement and passing will create problems. By playing at this level the Hawks players will gain significant experience and the lessons can be learned for use in the future.
