Ladies' 1s fail to find success against Stourport
28 October 2017, 12:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 1s 1 - 6 Stourport Ladies 1s
Oxford Hawks faced Stourport in their National League Conference West encounter at Banbury Road North. With a strong crowd behind them Hawks started strong, and with great interplay between lines Hawks were able to look dangerous on the break. Unfortunately despite many chances Hawks were unable to get on the scoreboard. After twenty minutes Stourport scored from a penalty corner and after this they piled huge pressure on the defence and added two more goals in quick succession before half time.
In the second half Hawks came out fighting and player or the match Becky Odlin scored from a great deflection after a brilliant run by Abi Flory. Hawks almost added another but Catherine Reaney's strike was well saved by the Stourport keeper. Stourport struggled to outlet from a great Hawks press but after ten minutes they broke away and added another. Despite this Hawks still continued to throw everything forwards, but as a result left some holes at the back and Stourport took advantage to add two more goals to end in a rather flattering scoreline for the away side.
