Amersham faced a youthful Hawks 6th Team with only 4 senior players. With determination and spirit they faced their battles all over the pitch but it was a day to say The Better Team won.
At times Hawks produced flowing moves to open the space and create chances, but the experience of the players they were facing would leave little opportunity to exploit mistakes.
The final score-line of 5-0 was deserved but take nothing away from the performance and the attitude of the Hawks players. In a game of this nature it is inevitably the defence who are called upon to stand tall, and this proved to be the case.
With outstanding saves from Jim Felix and the back division of Dawson, Laird, Warner marshalled by the experienced Chris Hutton, Will Laird's calm consistency in the fray earned him Man of the Match.
This was a game to learn from a higher level of intensity and pace against a good side, and the lessons will be valuable in the future.
