Reading Rockets fly past the Ladies 4s

Ladies' 4s 0 - 3 Reading Reading Rockets

With all the potential for it to be a great day the Ladies 4s travelled to Reading. All filled with high spirits and ready to get some points Hawks started the game with great pressure. However Reading came back with a great break and scored a spectacular top right hand corner goal. Hawks, keeping their heads held high, battled on and showed Reading they weren’t done as they retaliated with a near miss from a deflection slipping just wide of the goal (Lydia) from a lovely ball across the D (Grace). Dizzy showed Reading her silky skills as she battled her way through the Reading defenders and won a short corner which sadly didn’t convert. On came Tiggy who held her own against some tough defence and made some cracking runs up the line. As the half went on Hawks battled and the defence were put under a lot of pressure from Reading. They were denied a goal as Rebecca Brodie put them under pressure resulting in them kicking the ball. Evelyn made some wonderful saves as the Reading players continued to test her.

In the second half Hawks went out with a 0-0 attitude and knew this was a game they had to work hard for and just had to keep putting the effort in. Bernie made some lovely connecting passes, moving us up as a team towards the goal. Then Reading came back and scored a rather messy goal as their player scrambled her way towards the goal and was finished by one of our own. With Reading rolling on their many subs Hawks started to feel the legs and stamina dwindle a bit yet Emma continued to do a wonderful job playing alongside the defensive line, being strong in tackles and skills to move out of the oppositions way, pulling them tactfully from our D. However finally Reading scored their final third goal but Hawks did not give up as Dizzy had her own attempt at scoring but missed the goal though it was ever so close. All in all it was a close game that Hawks were very proud of how they played, it just didn’t end up in the back of the net on the day. Now a well deserved rest so Hawks are raring to get back on the winning streak.
