21 October 2017, 14:30, Aylesbury Vale Academy
Ladies' 7s 2 - 0 Aylesbury Ladies 4s
A strong team display gave the Ladies’ 7s a well-deserved victory away at Aylesbury.
The team’s determination to locate the pitch, with some initially going to a different venue, continued onto the pitch, with players fighting hard from the start.
Becky Madden-Waite stepped forward to play in goal for the team, and put in a great performance; ably assisted by some good defending from the team. This included a super goal line save from Katy Ison.
Further up the pitch, the team continued to link up well and move forward. This saw them winning a short corner and following a good strike by Wendy Sobey, Hannah Field fought hard to score the team’s first.
With consistently good play across the team, another short corner was earned; leading to another goal, this time from Wendy Sobey, who struck the ball beautifully past Aylesbury’s goalkeeper.
In the second half Aylesbury came out a lot stronger, but the Ladies’ 7s did well to protect their lead, and with the encouragement from the travelling supporters, got themselves a well-deserved away victory.
Final score: Aylesbury 0 – 2 Oxford Hawks.
Player of the match went to Becky Madden-Waite, for a great performance in goal as well as her good advice and direction from the back.
