The Ladies 4s knew this would be a tough match but approached the game with confidence. They started brightly, creating a number of goal scoring opportunities, pinning back Amersham and Chalfont in their own half. Chloe showed great desire to defend from the front through her hard work in the press and Emma also worked hard at left half to close down the opposition and release the ball safely to the midfield. Hawks were awarded a few penalty corners in the first half and they looked threatening. Despite Rebecca's best effort to put the ball in the back of the net, the goal was disallowed. A slight lapse in concentration 5 minutes before half time resulted in Amersham and Chalfont capitalising on a loose ball and scoring to put Hawks 1-0 down at half time.
After a team talk led by Vicky, the 4s were positive about the second half knowing that more dynamic movement would be the key to getting back onto level terms. A&C were confident now they had a 1-0 lead and they created more and more chances. The Hawks defence stood firm and kept the opposition forward line at bay. Hawks put together a few good passes which led to them winning a short corner. Rebecca dutifully stepped up and smashed the ball into the goal. This lifted the team and they continued to press until the final whistle. A 1-1 draw was a fair result.
