Falcons edge Epsom out in close game on the road

Falcons 2 - 1 Epsom Vagabonds
The Falcons lined up with the introduction to the side of David White and Rob Breen and both played a part in a hard working performance from all the players. Missing both Bear Smith and Phil Dunnill, Russ Warner in central midfield and Dick Heinrich at the back both put in a shift to ensure the Falcons remained on top.
In a first half of few chances Epsom took the lead but were pegged back when Dave Hughes slotted home after being put through by Warner and the score remained level at half time,
The second half was mostly Epsom pressing but their dangerous, and quick, right winger was well marshalled by Chris Billington with Chris Hutton and Heinrich doubling up when necessary. Steve Griffiths gave the Falcons the lead when found by a cross by Hutton, inexplicably left alone by the home keeper.
The only drama remaining was for the handsome Hutton to be hit on the head whilst trying to defend a short corner, cuts and bruises only but patched up and the Falcons were able to see out the remaining time to seal a fine win.
