Ladies' 7s successful against Iver & Burnham
30 September 2017, 16:30, Banbury Road North (Top)
Ladies' 7s 1 - 0 Iver and Burnham Ladies 1s
Learning from the previous week we had a good warm-up and had enough time to hit some balls and practice some short corners. Abby joined us in the team for the first time. Becky, Captain of the Sixes, was welcomed to make up the squad to 12. She had volunteered to bench for her own side. We started the game determined to succeed and had a lot of the possession and most of the action was in our attacking half, however, goals evaded us. The Iver goalie was awarded our Oppo Man of the Match. Midfield was particularly strong with Jess having a great game stopping Iver from getting out of their half most of the time and Jo as centre-half everywhere on the pitch. Short corners came and went with no goal for Hawks. Wendy and Deborah were confident whenever Iver ventured towards the D. The halftime talk invigorated us and we came out strong with many great runs by Claire and also Pam. After many short corners and continued persistence in the D and the ugly zone, a cross from Kat was slotted in by Abby who was well positioned on the post. A great goal from Abby in her first ever Ladies’ game and our Player of the Match.
