Ladies' 7s 1 - 2 Buckingham Ladies' 4s
Ladies’ 7s started out determined against an attacking Buckingham 4's - the play was equal with Mel, Kat and Polly showing some great play at the front however a long ball to a Buckingham goal-hanger meant the first goal was conceded to Buckingham. Hawks were under pressure, but with some sterling defending by Wendy, Gill, Deborah and Pippa we were able to hold Buckingham, despite several short corners which were handled brilliantly by Millie. Hawks returned the pressure with strong play from Katy, Rebecca, and Gemma which resulted in several short corners for Hawks which unfortunately we could not finish. Further strong play from Buckingham saw another goal, with the half time score being 2-0. Captain Jo motivated the team at half time to come back fighting. Within the first 12 seconds of the second half, a pass to Eleanor allowed her to dribble skillfully around the opposition from the halfway line to score, bringing it to 2-1. Despite some good interplay between Pam, Fiona and Holly were unable to equalise. Final score was 2-1 with joint man of the match going to Eleanor and Pippa Grainge.
