Oxford Hawks made the relatively short journey down to Southampton to face Trojans, however were heavily impacted by the major M3 closure as the car with their goalkeeper took four hours for the usual one hour journey. As a result Hawks had to start with ten players and no goalkeeper and found themselves 3-0 down by the time the rest of the team arrived after 25 minutes.
Hawks settled well back into the game and created chances of their own and also won penalty corners but Trojans defended well throughout. Becky Hibbert was on fine form and Annie Denly came close to reducing the deficit but her strike rebounded off the upright. Hawks threw everything forward and played at a great intensity, but having to chase the game they were caught out by clinical finish from open play, followed shortly by a penalty corner strike deflected off a Hawks defender. Hawks look forward to a slightly less bizarre game next weekend at home to Isca.
