Ladies 1s narrowly lose to Magpies in 3rd game of the weekend

17 September 2017

Ladies' 1s 1 - 2 Harleston Magpies Ladies 1s

Following another journey round the M25 to Old Loughts, accompanied by a tuneful rendition of “Let it go” (thanks Hie!) Hawks started their third game of the weekend against Harleston Magpies. Magpies were only playing their first game of the weekend!

The first half was reasonably well matched, though a fairly physical encounter. Both sides had opportunities, but it was Harleston who took the lead from a short corner deflection.Hawks came out strongly in the second half, and thought they were back in the game when a Bex Oakes deflection found the back of the net, only for it to be disallowed for a foul on the keeper. Not to be deterred, Hawks battled hard and found the equaliser through a perfectly positioned short corner strike from Caro Harris.Chances followed at both ends, but unfortunately it was Magpies who scored from another short corner. Despite some extremely tired legs, Hawks had time for one last short corner that just went wide.Overall lots of positives to take into the league, which starts next week, when Hawks are looking forward to just theone game in the weekend…
