Ladies 1s win easily over Chelmsford

16 September 2017

Ladies' 1s 5 - 0 Chelmsford Ladies 1s

Despite some tired legs Hawks started their second game of the day against Chelmsford with great energy and composure winning a corner early in the game. Caro Harris was once again on the scoreboard with a well executed strike into the corner. The momentum continued winning two further corners, with Becky Hibbert and Caro Harris both netting from penalty corners. Hawks continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when Catherine Reaney intercepted a ball out of the back and slotted home from close range. Perhaps the goal of the game came from great individual skills from Poppy Webb who drove from the left round a number of players, before calmly slotting the ball into the corner of the goal. Hawks denied Chelmsford entry into the D for he majority of the half and were pleased to come off the pitch with a 5-0 and clean sheet for GK Jess Hughes, but unfortunately lost Heather Francis with a nasty leg injury midway through the second half.
