The Ladies 1s travelled over to St Albans for a pre-season friendly against another Conference side, this time from Conference East. Hawks played some confident hockey right from the back all the way through the lines, with strong ball pace and good strength resulting in some lovely moves through the St Albans press. Poppy Webb, making her Saturday debut for the 1s was on fine form, making a number of intelligent leads, and thoroughly deserving of her MOM. Hawks opened the scoring midway through the first half with a well taken short corner goal from Caro Harris.

In the second half St Albans changed their approach and made life harder for our defence to get the ball out, but good composure and skills especially from Row Hearn, meant we were still able to find a way through. Katie Lowe was also on fine form, causing headaches for the St Albans defence. Hawks were not able to extend their lead but were very happy with the overall performance, and they look forward to their game next weekend away at Cambridge City.
