01 April 2017, 11:00, Banbury Road North (Top)

Men's 7s 6 - 4 Oxford Men's 8s

In a game against Oxford both sides were looking forward to the contest but would wish to end the season on a win.

Hawks pressed early with Will Smith, Alex Bush and Freddie Smith created problems but failing to penetrate the Oxford D. Against the run of play the Oxford centre half, and their man of the match, made space and drilled the ball reverse stick into the goal.

Not to be outdone a similar move led to a Hawks goal with Freddie Smith pulling off a copycat stunning strike. Nerves were settled by a firm strike by Will Smith and then a well struck short corner.

Hawks were now playing some of their best hockey of the season with link play all over the pitch. and Charlie warner Dan Evans worked the channels with Bradley Fogden and Simon White whilst the breaks from Ollie Graham And Smith always looked dangerous.

But Oxford would not go down lightly and added 2 more goals whilst Simon White finished a well worked short corner on the left post. All looked secure at 5-2 when Freddie Smith completed his hat trick for his man of the match performance. Not so fast however with a deflected short corner and a firm strike whilst catch Hawks on the break looked to have set a nervy finish at 5-4 and Oxford increasing tempo and robust tackling.

The match was finally settled with a stunning strike from Matt Brook into the top right hand corner for Hawks to see out the 6-4 win,
